data visualisation in maternity

We are excited about the opportunity to build upon the work already done in developing the use of the data we collect in maternity services, to ensure that it works well for those who work in maternity care and most importantly for the women and families we care for.

We propose a short piece of work looking into the software available for data visualisation and analysis, to explore its potential in maternity services.

We aknowledge that work has already been carried out by NHSDigital with the maternity dashboard and that NHSx has also taken over some of the remit to use digital services to enhance maternity care. We propose to carry out this piece of work in parallel to that, in order to take a focused exploration to look at the current potential of this data modality. We envisage that the culmination of this work will provided a spectrum of data visualisation outputs, including interactive data visualisations, to expand our ideas of what could be possible with maternity data. This site aims to provide the space to see what we have discovered.
