There are many different tools available for us to consider. There are software packages available which are free such as RawGraph and some versions of Tableau, and then there are packages which allow you to generate more sophisticated datavisualisations.

RawGraph

RawGraph is free soft ware which allows you to upload data and chose from a number of chart styles depending upon the kind of data you have and the visual you are keen to create.

Depending upon the chart you choose, you are given options as to which columns/segments of data to use from your dataset.

The package then allows some manipulation of the size and colours of the chart.

The chart can then be exported as an .svg file, which can be more finely adjusted using packages such as Adobe Illustrate.
